Virtual Office

Rather than employees driving to a central office to work, Virtual Office creates a fully functional worksite from home. The implementation of Virtual Office reduces carbon emissions related to employee transportation to work. Benefits to the State of implementing Virtual Office include the elimination of office space, increases in productivity and reductions in turnover and absenteeism.

The Governor Napolitano’s Office of Efficiency Review has spearheaded the State’s Virtual Office effort. They have created a Virtual Office Tool Kit to help agencies implement this important initiative.

AHCCCS has successfully implemented virtual office on a large scale. Since implementing virtual office, AHCCCS has transitioned more than 300 employees, or 20% of their workforce, to full-time at-home employees, and saved $677,000 annually by terminating leases on two office buildings. Increased employee productivity ranges from 10% to 45% and turnover has been reduced by 16.5%.
