Communications Interoperability Outreach Workshop

April 13, 2010 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Overview

Several significant federal deadlines related to public safety interoperability are fast approaching:

By 2011, local jurisdictions must be prepared to demonstrate response-level emergency communications within one hour for routine events involving multiple jurisdictions and agencies.

By 2013, all existing licensees on the VHF and UHF Spectrum must transition to narrow band equipment.

The Public Safety Interoperable Communications Office (PSIC) is hosting a Communications Interoperability Outreach Workshop to help you prepare to meet these critical deadlines.

Are you ready to meet these challenges?

In a vast state with many critical public safety needs, it is difficult for all stakeholders to stay informed regarding vital public safety interoperable communications issues. This workshop will give participants an opportunity to learn about upcoming federal mandates, discuss issues facing local jurisdictions preparing to meet these deadlines, and provide input on resources you need to maximize your outreach efforts.

Participants will leave with a better understanding of current key issues in interoperability, including:

  • Preparing to Prove Compliance with National Emergency Communications Goals by 2011
  • Meeting the FCC Narrow banding Requirements by 2013
  • Arizona's Interoperability Goals & SCIP Initiatives
  • Arizona Interagency Radio System (AIRS)
  • Opportunities for involvement to advance interoperable communications in Arizona.

The workshop will focus on providing resources to better assist communities in advancing interoperability and implementing the States' Statewide Communications Interoperability Plan (SCIP).

Who Should Attend:

  • PSCC Commissioners and SIEC Members
  • Public Information Officers
  • Communication Center Managers, Project Managers, Communication Leaders & other communications, planning, and operational representatives
  • All public safety/service disciplines, including NGO's, volunteers and tribal entities
