Arizona Excels in National E-Government Competition
Arizona 2-1-1 Online Wins Digital Government Achievement Award

August 31, 2006—Based on a strong track record of serving Arizona citizens, Arizona 2-1-1 Online has been recognized at the national level with a Digital Government Achievement Award for the “Best Government to Citizen Project.”

“I am very happy to see Arizona 2-1-1 Online win this prestigious award,” said Chris Cummiskey, State Chief Information Officer and Chair of the Governor’s Council on 2-1-1.  “Since going live in June 2005, the value of 2-1-1 has been proven in both day-to-day usage and during wildland fires, floods and other natural disasters.”

The Digital Government Achievement Awards are part of a national program that recognizes outstanding agency and department Web sites and applications that enhance information interactions, transactions and/or services. These awards are sponsored by the Center for Digital Government, a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies and best practices in state and local government.

In addition, the State Web portal, Arizona @ Your Service, finished as a finalist in the Best of the Web competition also sponsored by the Center for Digital Government.  The Best of Web is an annual awards program that recognizes the most innovative, user-friendly state and local government Web portals.
