New Grants Available to Spur Rural Health Information Technology

State Requests Proposals to Advance E-Health

The State of Arizona is soliciting proposals for the newly established Rural Health Information Technology Adoption (RHITA) Grant Program.

The RHITA Grants provide resources to rural health care providers to develop health information technology infrastructure.  Grants will be awarded for the purpose of increasing health care quality and efficiency while decreasing the costs of providing care in under served areas of Arizona.  $1.5 million was appropriated for the program in the 2006-07 State budget.

This program is part of Governor Napolitano’s Health-e Connection initiative.

"The RHITA grant program is a key next step in the implementation of the Health-e Connection Roadmap," said Governor Napolitano.  “These Grants will help these communities by providing the funds to assist them in updating medical systems, which, in the end, will mean better health care for rural Arizona."
