Arizona Recognized
Nationally for Digital Government
State Receives
Several Prestigious Awards
For
the fifth consecutive year, Arizona has been recognized as a top leader in
providing digital government services to its citizens. In the 2006
Digital
States Survey, Arizona finished in 5th place for Digital Government
nationwide.
The Digital States Survey is a comprehensive study that examines best practices,
policies and progress made by state governments in their use of digital
technologies to better serve their citizens and streamline operations.
“Arizona has a long history of smart strategic IT planning combined with
effective implementation of IT projects,” said State CIO Chris Cummiskey. “By
finishing in the top five, Arizona has once again demonstrated that it is
national leader in serving citizens through innovation."
The Survey is sponsored by the
Center for Digital Government, a national research and advisory
institute on information technology policies and best practices in state and
local government. Earlier this year, the same group recognized the
Arizona @ Your Service web portal finished
as a finalist in the national
Best of the Web
competition.
Arizona 2-1-1 Online Also Wins National Awards
Arizona
2-1-1 Online, a key digital government initiative in Arizona, has been
recognized for Outstanding Achievement in the field of State IT from the
National
Association of Chief Information Officers (NASCIO). NASCIO awards were
given to projects that exemplify best practices, support the public policy goals
of state leaders, assist government officials to execute their duties and
provide cost-effective services to citizens.
In addition, Arizona 2-1-1 Online was recognized earlier this year with a
Digital Government Achievement Award for best Government to Citizen Project.
