Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO) Workshop Announcement
The
Government Information Technology Agency (GITA) plans to conduct Regional Health
Information Organization (RHIO) workshops in January 2008.
The goal of these workshops is threefold:
• To gather various constituent groups (physicians, hospitals, labs, consumers,
etc.) for an open and free exchange of information and ideas about RHIOs.
• To facilitate small and large group discussions that integrate knowledge and
differing points of view into a collective guiding force for rural Arizona
communities interested in forming or participating in a RHIO.
• To identify and consider the unique needs, perceptions and challenges faced by
Arizona rural healthcare providers as they seek to exchange electronic health
care information.
GITA expects to host these meetings at locations in Yuma, Kingman, Sierra Vista,
Show Low, Prescott, Flagstaff and Casa Grande. Information gathered at these
meetings will inform the 2008 Rural Health Information Technology Adoption (RHITA)
Grant Program.
GITA has engaged consultants to assist Arizona providers who are interested in
forming or participating in a RHIO. Laura Kolkman of Mosaica Partners and her
associate Dale Emerson will be introduced to Arizona health care providers at
these workshops. GITA encourages any and all constituents with an interest in
forming or participating in a RHIO to participate in one of these workshops.
Additional information will be posted at
www.azgita.gov regarding the dates and locations for these important
workshops.
