Arizona 2-1-1 To Be Managed Alongside State Web Portal

Governor Napolitano’s Council on 2-1-1 recently voted to change management of Arizona 2-1-1 to the Government Information Technology Agency to enable Arizona 2-1-1 Online to be managed with the State of Arizona Web Portal, www.AZ.gov. This new management structure will go into effect January 7, 2008. Arizona 2-1-1 To Be Managed Alongside State Web Portal

“AZ.gov and Arizona 2-1-1 Online serve the public in a similar manner,” said State CIO Chris Cummiskey. “By leveraging the resources of AZ.gov, the State will greatly increase citizen access to the Arizona 2-1-1’s database of statewide health, human service and emergency response information.”

The management transition of Arizona 2-1-1 will be seamless to the users of the system. The change is anticipated to provide significant benefits and efficiencies including the ability, over time, to expand the functionality of 2-1-1 utilizing the applications and tools available under the Portal contract. The Portal contract also will allow AZ 2-1-1 to take advantage of strategic partnerships, such as the State's partnership with Google.

In addition, the Arizona Division of Emergency Management (ADEM) will continue to manage the AZ 2-1-1 Emergency Bulletin System.
