OF ARIZONA
Governor Napolitano, State Chief Information
Officer Recognized as Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano and State CIO Chris Cummiskey were recently acknowledged on the list of 25 Top Doers, Dreamers and Drivers Shaping the Future of Government by Government Technology Magazine. This recognition is based on Governor Napolitano’s forward-looking vision and track record of national leadership in government innovation. During her tenure as Governor, she has sought out technology solutions to make government more efficient and provide better service to citizens. “Our job is to magnify Arizona's innovation capacity,” said Governor Napolitano. “We're laying a foundation that will increase our ability to create and lead the industries of the future.” Her leadership in the technology arena has extended beyond State government to include hundreds of public and private partners throughout the State. The Arizona Health-e Connection and Arizona 2-1-1 Online are key examples of Governor Napolitano bringing together stakeholders from across Arizona to provide innovative solutions to emerging problems. The Arizona Health-e Connection has outlined a five-year plan to modernize the health care industry in Arizona. Arizona has made great progress in implementing this plan and has recently created a nonprofit organization to facilitate the transition to electronic medical records. Through the Arizona 2-1-1 Online initiative, Governor Napolitano has increased public access to information about public and nonprofit health, human service and emergency information. The 2-1-1 emergency call centers have also provided great value to citizens seeking information about State declared emergencies. State Chief Information Officer Chris Cummiskey was also recognized on the list for his efforts to implement Governor Napolitano’s innovation and technology agenda. “We are fortunate to live in a State where the Governor utilizes innovation and technology to improve State services,” said Cummiskey. ###
