70% of State
and Professional and Occupational Licenses Now Renewable Online
As part of
Governor Napolitano’s Efficiency Review Initiative, the Government Information
Technology Agency has developed an automated online professional and
occupational licensing system at several of Arizona’s licensing agencies, boards
and commissions.
Built primarily through the Arizona @ Your Service Web Portal, online license
renewals are now available to over 70% of all Arizona professional and
occupational licensees.
“Online
licensing increases customer service and improves agency efficiency,” said
Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano. “This program is a great example of agencies
using technology to reinvent government.”
To meet the State’s online licensing needs, GITA has developed a common,
enterprise-wide toolset to optimize business functions for Arizona’s licensing
and regulatory agencies.
“Since online licensing management functions at most boards and commissions can
be facilitated through a simple set of common business functions, developing a
common infrastructure just made sense,” said State CIO Chris Cummiskey.
Online licensing has not only improved agency efficiency, but citizen
convenience has improved as well. Approximately 30% of online license renewal
transactions occur outside of regular State business hours.
The State Web Portal offers this suite of licensing services to meet the
requirements of State agencies, boards and commissions regardless of their size

renewals:
