The
Arizona Capitol Times recently chose the Government Information Technology
Agency as the Leader of the Year in Public Policy in category of technology.
“I am very excited the Capitol Times chose GITA as its inaugural honoree for
technology policy,” said State CIO Chris Cummiskey. “We have worked hard to
implement Governor Napolitano’s vision of transforming government through
technology. This award is a tribute to her leadership and the hard work of
GITA’s outstanding staff.”
GITA was recognized for its work in promoting technology and innovation to
improve government efficiency and access to public information. Specific
projects cited include the
State of Arizona
partnership with Google to improve access to public documents,
Arizona 2-1-1,
Arizona Health-e Connection, and the
Online
Professional and Occupational Licensing program.
According
to Ginger Lamb, Vice President and Publisher, “The Arizona Capitol Times
created this awards presentation as an opportunity for us to give back to
the community and shine the spotlight on those individuals and organizations
that have helped create, implement and champion initiatives around the
State.” As an inaugural honoree, GITA has shown it is “truly a leader in the
Capitol community.”
Arizona Health-e Connection Also Recognized Nationally
The
Arizona Capitol Times award came on the heals of
Governor Napolitano’s announcement that the Arizona Health-e
Connection Steering Committee had received an innovation award from the
Council of State Governments.
