SERVICE ORIENTED ARCHITECTURE KEY TO THE SUCCESS OF SHARING STATE SERVICES
Workshop Highlights Business Requirements and Architecture for Pilot Agencies
Six pilot project agencies recently participated in a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
Workshop to further evaluate business and technical requirements in support of
the state’s SOA direction.
As a result of the workshop, pilot project agencies have proposed that a
combination of a federated and brokered Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) will
provide greater success and control for sharing of services and information
statewide. Also, the use of application and integration software suites will
greatly enhance the orchestration of services and information for the state’s
web-portal and agency web-sites.
Project Investment Justifications from pilot project agencies are to be
completed and submitted to GITA by the end of February, 2008 for review and
approval of proposed SOA projects.
The State of Arizona Service Oriented Architecture initiative began in January
2007, when the state embarked upon an SOA awareness campaign and development
program for establishing the proper technology framework and architecture for
state services and information. Since that time, the state has further refined
its SOA plans and has selected several pilot projects.
