New GITA Policy Promotes Virtual Office Leverages Governor’s Efficiency Review Initiative, AHCCCS Implementation
Furthering the goals of Governor Napolitano’s Efficiency Review Taskforce, the Government Information Technology Agency recently released a Statewide Virtual Office Policy (P150) designed to expand the statewide use of virtual office. The new policy provides a technology framework for agencies to develop virtual offices and builds upon the successful implementation by the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System.
Since implementing virtual office, AHCCCS has transitioned more than 20% of its workforce to a virtual environment. This has lead to strong increases in productivity and has significantly reduced employee turnover. In addition, AHCCCS has saved over $1 million in office leasing costs.
"Virtual office incorporates technology, trust, vision, with the end result being happier more productive teams," said AHCCCS Director Anthony Rodgers. "The move to virtual office also encompasses an agency’s willingness to take a risk in order to pursue a change others might not be willing to make or even have the capacity to contemplate"
