Max Ivey to Serve as Interim Director and State CIO

W. Max Ivey has been named Interim Director of the Government Information Technology Agency.  Ivey has served as the Deputy Director at GITA since 2003. 

“I’m happy to lead GITA during these difficult budget times,” said Ivey.  “I will work to meet GITA’s core statutory functions in the areas of IT Planning, Policy and Standard Development, Project Review and Oversight, E-Government, Information Security and Privacy, and Public Safety Communications.”

Ivey’s career in information technology spans 45 years.  Prior to his tenure with GITA, he headed the information technology departments in several academic settings including the State University of New York, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and West Virginia University.  He also served as the Director of Academic Computing Services at Arizona State University from 1974 to 1982. 

Ivey has a PhD in Management Science from Arizona State University, a Master of Science from the University of Houston, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Arizona.
