James Ryan Named Chief Information Security Officer

State CIO Chad Kirkpatrick recently appointed longtime State IT Manager James Ryan as the State Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Prior to his appointment as CISO, Ryan served as GITA’s Homeland Security Manager, where he focused on strategic IT coordination & planning, standards compliance, and consulting duties.

“I’m pleased to appoint Jim as CISO,” said Kirkpatrick. “Jim’s extensive knowledge of information security issues will serve the State of Arizona well.”

Ryan has over 20 years experience in information technology management, IT security, and business process enhancement. In addition to his work at GITA, Ryan has served as CIO for the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.
